Our Story

Founded in 1953, North Bankstown Soccer Club has been a cornerstone of Western Sydney football for over seven decades. What began as a modest grassroots initiative with just three teams—U10, U12, and U14—has flourished into a thriving community institution at our home ground, Graf Park in Yagoona.

Throughout our proud history, we've grown to field more than 30 teams at our peak, nurturing countless young players and bringing families together through the beautiful game. In 2024, we proudly rebranded as the North Bankstown Redbacks, symbolizing our fierce competitive spirit and deep connection to the local community.

Today, we stand as the first club in Football NSW to achieve Game Changer Club status, a testament to our commitment to inclusivity, development, and excellence. Run entirely by dedicated volunteers, we continue to provide quality football programs for all ages—from our youngest MiniRoos players to our senior teams and Walking Football participants. This is more than just a club; it's a family built on 71 years of passion, perseverance, and community pride.

It is low-impact, team-based exercise, utilising the defined 'Walking Football Rules and Formats' specifically non-contact with the players 'always having one foot on the ground'. Matches are played with modified formats (5v5/6v6) on smaller pitches with shortened game times. Walking Football aims to provide participants physical & mental health benefits, social contentedness and promotion of the benefits of ongoing physical activity. 📺 Watch a short clip featuring Walking Football: How Walking Football is Played Running is NOT allowed. A participant always has to have one foot on the ground. It is a non-contact version of the game. The ball cannot be kicked above head height. There is no heading of the ball. There are no 'referees' as such and the competitive angle is kept to a minimum. The focus is on fun and making friends. The program focuses on passing rather than speed/running, with flexible field sizes. The focus is health through exercise, enjoying the love of the game and having fun and making connections.
